On November 3rd Gabitel Ingenieros participated in the sixth meeting of the Strategic Plan for Huelva Province, which took place at the Reception and Documentation Center at the Port of Huelva. This meeting is an opportunity to analyze the situation of various economic sectors in the province with the goal of designing strategic lines to shape the future of the economy in Huelva. Previous meetings focused on other important topics for the province such as fishing, berry farming, mining, livestock, and Mediterranean agriculture.

In this occasion the main topics discussed have been the need to innovate, specialize and diversify that the sector needs, as well as the opportunities provided by Huelva’s strategic location, its next generation port, well positioned and with great expansion possibilities.

The meeting was presented by the president of Diputacion Provincial, Ignacio Caraballo and it was attended by the president of the Port Authority of Huelva, Javier Barrero and the Employment, Science and Enterprise Delegate from Junta de Andalucia Manuel Ceada, who highlighted the potential of industry in Huelva, which generates up to 18% GVA (Gross Value Added) and employs 16,000 people in our province, as well as the importance of industrial strategy in Andalucia 2020 to drive its growth.

Both the president of the Port Authority and its director, Ignacio Alvarez-Ossorio, pointed out the importance of the optimization of logistics processes to become competitive, since it is essential information considered by companies when choosing a place to establish their offices.

During the meetings, our CEO Gonzalo Leandro participated with representatives of Aiqbe, Freshuelva, and the University of Huelva in a roundtable to discuss the challenges of the sector and moderated by Juan Jose Garcia del Hoyo, president of the Economic and Social Council.

To close these important conversations, we had remarks by the vice-president of the Diputación Provincial de Huelva, Maria Eugenia Limon and the vice-counselor of Employment, Enterprise and Commerce at the Junta de Andalucía Maria Jose Asensio who emphasized the support of Diputación and Junta de Andalucía in the industrial sector and mentioned their participation in direct and inverse promotion actions and the development of the Pact for Industry in Andalucía.
